NOTE: We have completed filling our Annual Survey of Books for Volume 107, to be published in 2009. Any submissions sent at this time will be saved for review in February 2009 by next year's editors. Thank you for considering the Michigan Law Review.
The Michigan Law Review publishes an Annual Survey of Books dedicated to book reviews. Book reviews are not included in any other issue of the Michigan Law Review. The Survey includes reviews of books published in the current year and the past two years. So, for example, the 2009 Survey, which will be published in April 2009, will include reviews of books published in 2009, 2008, and 2007.
The Book Review office welcomes unsolicited submissions. Please e-mail your submission (manuscripts or proposal) as an attachment to michlrev.ed.br@umich.edu in MS Word format. Include the following information in the body of the message: your name, email address, and phone number, and the title of the book review. You may also attach a cover page, CV, or resume.
Proposal guidelines can be downloaded here. Manuscripts are strongly favored. If you are unable to submit a manuscript, you must submit a short draft section (three to five pages) of the review with your proposal. Decisions for the upcoming year’s issue are generally made between March and May.
Please note that we require finished drafts be no more than 8,500 words, including footnotes. We believe that this is the ideal length for an interesting and useful book review. It will also assist us in making our survey of the many fascinating and important books related to the law that have been published in the past few years as comprehensive as possible.
To request an expedited decision or to contact the book review editor, please email michlrev.ed.br@umich.edu or call (734) 647-4072.
